WiMAX – A NEW STANDARDIZED TECHNICAL SOLUTION FOR BROADBAND WIRELESS ACCESS NETWORKS

During December 2005 MICRO-LINK developed a Technical design documentation for fixed WiMAX radio network in 3.5 GHz frequency band in the wider Čakovec area in the northern part of Croatia. During network design MICRO-LINK engineers applied professional software for radio communication system design. Using one elevated position in Čakovec city center the coverage of city centre as well as the wide rural Čakovec area with WiMAX base station signal has been realized.

Based on obtained licenses for radio stations, MICRO-LINK, acting as a system integrator for leading Croatian telecommunication operator T-HT (Hrvatske Telekomunikacije d.d.), completed the first commercial implementation of a WiMAX certified network on January 12th 2006 using RedMAX system by Redline Communications.

Upon the completion of the installation this three sector WiMAX base station has been put into test operation until the technical survey by the CTA on January 2006. After this survey T-HT will be able to offer broadband data access to a large number of customers using a highly advanced, WiMAX certified radio network. Service will be available to users located in the near vicinity of the base station and the urban Čakovec area as well as for distant users in rural areas, with the complete control of Quality of Service (QoS).
